Back To The Gym!!

Okay so I am about to start working out at a new gym, and getting back into my regular workout mode. The part I dread about new gyms is the "looking like a newbie" phase. The part where I am trying to walk around looking all cool like I know where everything is at and how it works when I really have no clue and just going off common sense. Why does it always feel like everyone is watching you at these times? So I added a towel option to my membership, its "unlimited towels" okay, so what exactly does that mean? Workout towels, shower towels or both? Where do I get them? Do I have to bring my own lock or do they have the ones you can put a quarter in? Will my iPod earphones work on the cardio equipment? Okay, I supposed I can just ask all these things at the gym, but then everyone will know I am new (who really is everyone and who really is going to know, probably no one but still..)

When I get home I will start reading my new fitness book, Jillian Michales - Making The Cut. it is supposed to be a 30 day diet that will help you shed the last 10-20 lbs and also tips to teach you how to maintain your weight. I am having to eat my food based of a body type. I already do not like the diet, as it restricts me from eating the good stuff, lol. Beauty is Pain as they say! Okay I am desperately sleepy and I am pretty much forcing myself to go workout. I know once I am done I will be glad I did, but tell that to my sleepy eyes right now. I will be back to finish this post with a full report and possibly a funny story about my new gym adventure!

Whew! The gym was awesome! Good to be working out again. It is way nicer than my last gym. It was packed though. I had to ask a lot of questions. I didn't remember where the ladies locker room was so I walked in all cool like and walked upstairs thinking I was walking towards it, when I realized it was downstairs & had to just turn around and walk back downstairs. I was laughing inside as I tried to act like I forgot something but I am sure someone noticed what was really going on. There was this girl I was walking behind and the entire time we walked by the long mirror she was staring at herself.. almost walked into a wall. Too funny. I guess we all do that at one time or another, but at least try to do it when no ones watching! It's a good thing someone invented moisture wicking gym clothes too, because the people with the big butts would be walking around with big wet spots on the back of their pants & imagine walking behind someone looking at that! It seems everywhere I looked there were people having conversations and hanging out there, and I was thinking how I am happy I managed to drag myself there to begin with, and get through my workouts. Definitely do not want to just hang out there any longer than necessary. Well,  perhaps if one of those cute eye candy guys decided to start up a conversation with me, but lets face it, I am not one of those girls who go all full makeup and hair down and all cute gym clothes. I also sweat profusely when I workout so having my long thick hair down is not an option. I swear when I am sweating it is like a skit from Saturday Night Live because it sure seems like I am the only one using my gym towel. My last gym mention tonight is that there are dressing rooms inside the locker rooms, and they are there for a reason, because some things just can not be "unseen" & I guess I should give some people credit for having the balls to get butt naked in front of everyone when it's clear they should be using the dressing rooms. No offense to anyone, but even I know my limits based on what my body looks like..

Onto another subject. My dog is having issues with walking on the linoleum. He had no problem walking on the tile at my old house, but I think the linoleum is more slippery and he feels unsteady. So earlier I was in my closet, and he came to the bathroom door wanting to come into the closet with me.. he was staring at me and the floor as if he was crossing a big ocean.. he shakily put one foot in front of the other, made it to the rug and then was stuck staring at the rest of the way trying to figure out how to get across. See the pic above? He was so scared he didn't stay still long enough to get a good pic!

One more thing, I saw a guy selling fruit on the corner near my house.. for a minute there I thought I was back in San Jose! Gotta give him credit, he is really working for his money sitting out in that heat!

In short, the gym has the spoken/written etiquette and the unspoken etiquette that people should be aware of, use your common sense! Save the admiring of yourself in the mirror for extended periods of time, for your bathroom mirror, I mean REALLY! Cover up in the locker room, have a little modesty please! Don't try to look cool when starting at a new gym, go ahead and ask questions. Lastly, when your dog is afraid of linoleum, laugh your butt off watching him try to cross it, then maybe get a bigger rug to cover it up.

Until next time - do a little dance, make a little love, and you know the rest =)
